December 19, 2013: Andrea Alù has received the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Optics 2013 from the International Commission for Optics “for ground breaking work in metamaterials and plasmonics, and for the introduction of the concept of scattering-cancellation-based metamaterial cloaking”.

December 17, 2013: Our paper on broadband cloaking using non-Foster metasurfaces has been published in Physical Review Letters, and selected as PRL Editor’s Suggestion.

December 9, 2013: Andrea Alù has been selected as an American Physical Society (APS) Outstanding Referee of the Physical Review and Physical Review Letters journals, by the journal editors.

December 3, 2013: Two of our papers have been accepted and are currently in press in Science.

November 26, 2013: Our review paper on metamaterial-enhanced nanophotonics has been selected and published in  the Special Issue of Optics and Photonics News, for Optics in 2013.

November 25, 2013: Andrea Alù has been elevated to Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for “contributions to the theory and applications of electromagnetic metamaterials and plasmonic phenomena”.

October 29, 2013: Andrea Alù has received the inaugural 2013 Franco Strazzabosco Award for Young Engineers at the Italian Embassy in Washington, DC,awarded to an Italian engineer under 40 to recognize his entrepreneurial courage who strive in applying scientific discoveries to public advantage.The award came together with the Medal of Representation of the President of the Republic of Italy.

October 29, 2013: Francesco Monticone has received an IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Doctoral Research Award.

October 28, 2013: Andrea Alù has been elected Fellow of the Optical Societ of America “for outstanding contributions to the fields of photonic metamaterials, plasmonic phenomena and devices, cloaking and scattering suppression.”

March 25, 2013: Andrea Alù has received the 2013 OSA Adolph Lomb Medal for ‘outstanding contributions to the fields of optical metamaterials and plasmonic optics, and for development of the concept of plasmonic cloaking’. The award, established in 1940, recognizes noteworthy contributions made to optics before reaching the age of 35.
