December 16, 2016: Andrea Alù has been elected Fellow of SPIE ‘for achievements in optical metamaterials and plasmonics’.

December 5, 2016: Andrea Alù has been selected to receive the ICO Prize in Optics. He will receive the award and deliver the Ernst Abbe Lecture at the ICO General Congress in Tokyo, Japan.

June 1, 2016: Andrea Alù has been selected as a National Finalist for the Blavatnik National Award for Young Scientists in Physical Sciences and Engineering.

May 9, 2016: Francesco Monticone has received the WNCG Student Leadership Award from the Wireless Networking and Coimmunications Group at UT Austin.

May 5, 2016: Andrea Alù has been named a Simons Investigator in Physics. This program aims to provide a stable base of support for outstanding scientists, enabling them to undertake long-term (up to 10 years) investigations of the fundamental questions in their fields.

April 19, 2016: Ahmed Kord has received a 2016 Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship for the project ‘Fully-Integrated Reconfigurable Magnet-less Non-reciprocal Components for Next-Generation Wireless Communication Systems’, in collaboration with Columbia University.

April 19, 2016: Our paper on plasmonic NEMS for infrared sensing, in collaboration with Prof. Rinaldi at NEU, has been published in Nature Communications.

April 12, 2016: Our paper on giant photoresponsivity in mid-IR hyperbolic metamaterial devices has been published in Physical Review Applied and selected as Editors’ Suggestion.

April 8, 2016: Our Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) proposal on Ultralow Power, Ultrafast, Integrated Nano-Optoelectronics has been selected for award by the U.S. Department of Defense. We look forward to several years of exciting nanophotonics research with our team members at Stanford, Harvard and UPenn.

April 1, 2016: Our latest research on cloaking and radio-frequency transparency was featured on Fox 7.

March 29, 2016: Our paper on time-modulated antennas, that break the symmetry between emission and absorption has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and it has been highlighted in several news outlets, including Physics World and Physics Today.

March 17, 2016: Dr. Yakir Hadad has received the 2016 Leopold B. Felsen Award for Excellence in Electrodynamics. He will receive the award at the banquet of EuCAP in Davos, Switzerland in April.

February 12, 2016: Andrea Alù has been awarded the inaugural ACS Photonics Young Investigator Award Lectureship. He will receive the award and give a plenary talk at META’16 next July in Malaga, Spain.
